VICTORIA — Every year Dodd’s Furniture owner Gordy Dodd sponsors a number of philanthropic endeavors. From clothing and food drives, to personally preparing holiday feasts for the homeless at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He’s always trying to set an example.
Dodd and his wife came to Canada from India in 1977 without a single cent in their pockets. Today he has built a successful furniture store and shared cab business through hardwork and dedication, but giving back to those less forturnate is what truly makes him happy.
On the heels of a hugely successful Thanksgiving spread, Dodd will personally prepare a large part of the Christmas Turkey dinner to be held at Our Place Homeless shelter. Over seven-hundred people are expected to taste his famous fare, in what has become a yearly tradition and something to look forward to for homeless and low income Victorians.
