• Donations Needed For Christmas Dinner

For 30 years, Richard White has made sure that senior citizens don’t spend Christmas Day alone. This year will be no different.

White has organized the Christmas Day Dinner for older residents who might otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.

KMBC’s Kris Ketz reported that there were 400 guests last year. More are expected to attend this year.

“The contact that you have with other people is probably your best gift to give,” White said.

In the beginning, White was a police officer on the street who said he saw too many people alone on Christmas Day. With the help of volunteers and donations, the annual dinner was started.

White is retired from the police force. He said he considers everyone who attends the dinner as a part of his family.
